Of recent have noticed that Outlook for MacOS Sierra on O365 E3 won't open some attachments randomly. I can see the email has an attachment but its greyed out and I cant open it. I can see and open the attachment via OWA and on my phone but not on Outlook for Mac 2016. There are a few emails with the same issue and it is NOT specific to a sender or an attachment type. The OS version is 10.12.6, and the Outlook version is 15.39. Would appreciate some quick support as this is on corporate email and some attachments are too huge to open on my phone.

It's a problem with Outlook but there is no solution yet. Here is a workaround from Microsoft. I also found out that you can move that message to the archive folder, then access folder properties (ctrl + click on folder) and click 'EMPTY CACHE' on properties.
