Modifying WordArt Text Position You can apply a number of text effects to your WordArt objects that determine alignment and direction. The effects of some of the adjustments you make are more pronounced for certain WordArt styles than others. Unfortunately, text cannot be rotated in Word 2008. In any given Text Box or Shape you can change the Direction of the text to either 90º or 270º. You also can rotate the Shape containing the text, but the text will remain horizontal (or vertical if you've applied one of the Direction options). AFAIK, the only workarounds are: • Once the Text Box or Shape is created, Cut it, then use Edit> Paste Special - Picture, or • Create the Text Box in either PPT or Excel, rotate it there, then add it to the Scrapbook. In Word, drag an instance from the Scrapbook into the document, or • Create in PPT or Excel as above then Copy/Paste into the Word document.
