Mac Change Emulator Cable Modem
Aug 15, 2002 Now here's where the mac address come in. At NIGHT i would change my MAC address to my old surfboard modem and UNLIMITED ACCESS and in the morning i would change it back to my real MAC ADDRESS.
As i said, any external modem works fine I don't get it I mean I see both 'regular' (windows) modems and mac modems. Am I to assume that all other things (ports, speed, chipset) being equal the only difference between a windows modem and a mac modem is the software? And if you did purchase a Windows external modem for a MAC where do you get the MAC software? From the Modem maker or Apple. And if there is a MAC version of the external modem you want, won't you be better off in the longrun getting the MAC version? Unless there is a large price difference between the two! Click to expand.the modem itself is identical, but the bundled software will be different, the cable (if one is included) will be different, and the mac modem is usually much more expensive.
Just be sure whatever you get is not a 'winmodem.' Those are not really modems at all; the actual 'modem' part runs under windows as a seperate process. Tcp/ip was pretty standard with 7.5.1 and upward I would believe? (not sure about 7.1 as don't have that myself here although I wish!) I think that 14.4K don't work that much at all anymore.because most servers need at least V.34 which is only with 28.8K and upward I believe?
