So since they had just bought a ton of ink, I got an MX922, at an obscene price, to replace an Epson WF-3620 that had amazing scanning software and scanner. But their print heads gunk up easily.
So is this 922 software bad because the printer is bad and old and Canon didn’t bother to update their (scanning) software or make it universal like Epson so it glides with all releases? Anyone have any third party that they have used other than VueScan that you might recommend? Well I guess I really can’t complain $39 for the printer and tons of third party ink that cost me nothing and cheap ink in the future until this thing goes B200.
Guess I’ll have to breakout my old $5K Lino-Hell scanner, which I haven’t needed since the Epson basically did it all. That’ll be a rich trying to get that back up on running. Guess that’s what I get for being cheap. I REALLY HATE THIS PRINTER!!!
I just bought the MX922 yesterday to replace a dead IP4300. I’ve got it mostly working after hours with it. The scan does not work. Scan gear says ‘Cannot communicate with scanner for these reasons: Scanner is turned off USB cable is disconnected.
Please check and try again. Of course the MX922 is turned on and the scan lamp comes on.
USB cable disconnected. Give me a break. The printer was set up for USB operation and prints from my PC with Win10. I am still searching for a fix. Have not talked to Canon yet, but that is probably the route I will ned to take. I have spent at least 6 hours on this thing. I did not expect it to be a full time job.

You can turn it off, but it lets you QA your scans before you take away the source. In email or an application where you want to insert the scans, browse to the folder where the files are.Thre is a default or you set your directory in preferences. I set mine for OneDrive. If you are in Win 10, then you may have other issues. Canon released some Win10 drivers in November and December, but not remote scanning.
