On Windows you can simply add Byte Order Mark (BOM) to the file and it will open correctly in Excel. The best solution that I have found is a script made by Konrad Foerstner, which I have improved little bit, to support different colum delimiters. You can try importing the file with different encoding and some people declare success with UTF-16 Little Endian, but for me this simply does not work. Excel for Mac 2011 does not support UTF-8 in CSV files. This does not work on Mac.

Just wondering if anyone has made the switch and regrets it. I have been flirting with the idea of switching for a while now and I'm just curious what I would miss. I don't enjoy using iTunes for music purchases (I use Spotify exclusively for music) and I use Kindle for my book purchases.
I went through a phase where I was completely entranced by shiny Apple products and I now own an iPad mini retina, Macbook Air 13 inch and an iPhone 5. Is it awkward going from a full set of Apple products to mixing it up? It's crap on Windows as well. The reason they moved is pretty straightforward, though. USB mass storage requires the phone to dismount the volume and transfer control completely to the computer. By using MTP the phone stays in control of the storage volume and manages it from its end. This enabled them to have a single storage volume which does far simplify the user experience.
